These are made of a soft medium weight Merino Wool. These stockings feature ribbing & a clocked ankle design very similar to extant examples. Historical Note: Worsted (wool) stockings were worn by most all social classes in the 18th & 19th centuries. The finer the texture or weave, the more expensive the stockings.
