1950S “Bubble” Skirt Wiggle Dress With Halter Bodice – “Ceil Chapman”

Late 50s blue silk wiggle dress with bubble style overskirt, & halter bodice. Label: “Ceil Chapman.” This dress is simply amazing! The bubble overskirt emphasizes an hourglass figure, & is ‘stuffed’ with a stiff bukram fabric to help keep its shape when worn. The bodice is boned beneath the bust, at the sides, & at the back. The dress closes at the back with a metal zipper, hook & eyes, & buttons at the back neck; the overskirt has a metal snap to hold it closed when worn. Fully lined in a smooth acetate (may be silk, but I did not do a burn test on the lining fabric). The overall condition is very good, with no visible flaws to the dress itself; the lining has some fade, the buckram appears to have been repaired at some point, & the hang straps have come apart (I knotted them together where they came apart, & they are still working just fine for their purpose). None of the internal issues affect the wearability or look of the garment.
