“I design for women who don’t mind being noticed.” An absolute knockout of a dress! High end vintage 1980s evening dress from designer Ann Lawrence. Lawrence, who started as a flight attendant before settling in New York, described her dresses as ‘The life of the party’. Her dresses are mentioned among the top designers of the time, with a retail price averaging $1000 ($2400 in todays dollar!)-more for beaded or full length gown. This full length evening gown is done in bright, shocking pink silk. Flattering sweetheart neckline trimmed in black velvet, with black glass beading & large velvet bow. Fitted from bodice through hip before flaring out into wide inset box pleats, creating a full ball gown skirt. Fully lined in organdy, built in slip backed in stiff netting. Invisible side zip with hook & eye closure. Labeled ‘Ann Lawrence’, size 8. Made in USA. Gown is in very good condition; there is a small hole at hem of skirt lining, not seen when worn. A few small spots & marks scattered throughout the dress but they are small & faint & really very hard to see. I doubt this dress was worn more than once.
