There are coats that alter the equation of an outfit. They’re not puffers that fold into your stuff sack by April. They’re not trenches that try to do it all in between seasons.
They’re overcoats. Structured, long, heavy. Coats that make jeans and a sweater look curated.
We’ve always felt that the overcoat is the one item in a woman’s wardrobe you should spend the absolute shit ti on and this edit has been curated to help make that process easier. Here you’ll find everything from smart camel wool you can’t go wrong with, to something bigger and black to throw over your evening dresses. We’ve paid special attention to tailoring because it doesn’t just need to look good hanging in your closet, it needs to look good on you.
Flatteringly, of course. Too short and it’ll lose the silhouette we all reach for an overcoat for. Too bloppily boxy and it’ll just look like you stole it from your dad.
None of that stuff here. It should also go without saying that we’ve only included coats that actually feel like coats. Heavy when you lift them off the hanger.
The weight isn’t a burden, it’s the coat doing its job; holding its shape, cutting correctly on your body, keeping you warm without a puffier-than-necessary synthetic middle. Lots of wool. Lots of wool blends.
Some cashmere for the folks that want to splurge. These are coats that earn their name. Some of these are true investments that will be in your wardrobe for decades.
Some are more approachable price wise but were included because they wear like they’re priced much higher. We don’t want to send you anything that will lose it’s shape by mid January or start pilling after three dry cleans. If we aren’t sure about how something will hold up, it doesn’t make the cut.
Simple as that. For the things that do make it, we each own one. We don’t say that about just anything.
