Biker Jackets
Few pieces offer what a biker jacket does. They take an outfit and sharpen it. Not in a costumey way.
Not in an overdoing-it way. Just in a “yeah, I’ve got this” way that comes from decades of doing this exactly right. A great biker jacket is maybe the most consistently dependably excellent final layer you can own.
We’ve put some deliberation into what makes the cut for this edit because there is a lot of noise in this category. Disappointingly flimsy fast fashion copies that fall apart within a few months. Versions that are cut too broad in the shoulder or too boxy through the torso.
Ones that look amazing on a hangtag and then somehow feel bafflingly incompetent when you wear them. We’ve steered clear of all of that nonsense. Each of these jackets was chosen because it works – on actual humans living actual lives.
That translates to jackets that feel just right when you wear them. Leathers and fauxes that keep their shape without being painfully stiff. Details that feel solid but aren’t dramatic.
Silhouettes that work as easily with a slip dress as they do a bulky sweater. Speaking of silhouettes, that is another thing we think about a lot. Biker jackets that only work in one season or with one type of outfit are only going to get worn around four times a year.
The ones we’ve selected below work way more often than that. We also wanted there to be options here. Some classic black because, well… it’s classic for a reason.
Deep cognac and brown shades because why not enjoy a jacket that looks warm but is slightly less expected. Textures for those who might want to stick to the essence of a biker jacket but in a less literal sense. Short cropped styles for anyone who wants something to pair with high waisted jeans.
Longer lengths for those whose bottoms tend to have wider legs. We even paid attention to proportion because it really is the difference between a biker jacket working or falling flat. Curated is really the key word here.
Biker jackets are not a trend. They aren’t going anywhere. They are a wardrobe staple that, when done right, is truly worth investing in.
Throw it on now. Throw it on ten years from now. Throw it on with pretty much anything in your closet already.
