Denim Skirts

Denim is the one material that we’ve all worn every year of our adult lives and yet the denim skirt still feels seasonal. Too trendy. Something you either embrace for a few months or sit patiently until they’re gone again. We don’t agree with this sentiment one bit. A well made denim skirt should not be a statement piece. It should be a workhorse. That thing you grab when nothing else feels quite right and it solves every problem. Case in point this curated collection. We’ve been thoughtful about what a denim skirt should do. Because honestly they can do so much! We’ve included a midi in a soft wash that can tuck into a blouse and take you to dinner. We’ve included a straight mini that can be worn with a chunky knit and ankle boot September-Feb without looking like you are trying to steal fashion inspo from your oldest sister. We included a maxi with enough body that it feels purposeful, not like an afterthought. These skirts are not three variations of the same thing. They are genuinely different articles of clothing that will dress you differently. We treated them as such. Part of that treatment meant being intentional about wash and weight. These are the two elements that determine almost everything about how a denim skirt actually fits and feels. That pale thin skirt you’re thinking of? Fits completely differently than that dark indigo mid-weight one even if they’re the same cut. Which is why we included options for both. They wear differently and will serve different seasons and wardrobes. Everything here is meant to work with what you already own, not force you to build an entirely new outfit around it. Last, but not least we paid special attention to how these skirts fit on different body types. We specifically looked for ones that felt flattering for many, not just ones that look good on a model and then taper off from there. We looked for wrap styles that actually give you control over the waistline. We looked for A-lines that actually swish when you walk. We looked for straight fits that have enough stretch that you can walk at a normal human walking pace. Truthfully denim skirts are trendy right now. But that’s sort of true for every article of clothing so it doesn’t really matter. The ones worth investing in were cool way before people realized it was trendy and will remain in your closet long after the trendsters have hung up their denim for good.
