We live with one incredibly specific frustration when it comes to clothes and it is this: the shirt that rides up. The tucked-in blouse that works so hard to untuck itself by noon. The button-down that looks crisp and painstakingly-curated for approximately forty minutes before deciding it wants to do its own thing. A bodysuit solves all of that with no effort whatsoever on your part and asks absolutely nothing in return except maybe a snap closure at the bottom. That having been said, we’ve been diving into this category for months now and what we’ve found is that there’s actually quite a range here. Some bodysuits work as perfectly plausible workwear foundations, sleek and smooth under tailored trousers, whisperquiet throughout the day and still holding their shape when it’s time to leave the office without requiring so much as one brief adjustment. Some hit high up on the cleavage-front but in deeply flattering ways that work for serious date night action, fitted without being fussy or overtly trendy, pieces that photograph like madness but are actually pulled for how they make you feel when you put them on. We’ve got ribbed cotton ones that slide into that lazier, but no less loved category of day-in/day-out uniform. What we tend to focus on when we’re bringing something new into this particular fold is fit through the torso and cut of the neckline. Bodysuits are absurdly easy to screw up in the fit department (either gaping at the chest or squeezing across the back) and we simply will not allow it. The neck matters because that largely dictates what you can and can’t wear it with. A structured square neck in an neutral color is one of the absolute most useful things you can put in your closet. Same goes for that scoop neck in silky jersey, earning its keep every week. Speaking of silks, we’re also incredibly particular about fabric. A thin, unlined bodysuit is only doing about half of the job for you. We love ones with enough heft or structure to truly sit flush against your body without feeling stiff or bulky under everything you put over it, all day long or all night long. The collection here runs the gamut because the category does genuinely lend itself to everything. Work. Evening out. Lazy Saturdays. Travel. The common thread tying every single one together is not color palette or silhouette, its function. If it pulls, shifts, puckers or just generally looks anything less than how you put it on, it isn’t making the cut. These are bodysuits that know their place and stay right where you put them.
